A W Walks are intended for keen walkers who like a more challenging walk than those generally offered by the main walks programme. They are however simillar and in addition to the grade A walks on the calendar page.
Although they have a programme secretary the AW group is unlike the other North Wales groups in that it is not tied to any geographical area and has no formal structure. Walkers from all groups regularly attend these walks, with a significant number of Clwydian and Ynys Mon members.
A W (A Walkers) walks generally include long walks over difficult terrain and often involve mountain scrambles. They have a leader but are led at a brisk pace and involve long days in the hills which in summer can be 8 to 10 hours. In winter you would be expected to come equipped for any weather conditions, and be confident in the use of crampons and ice axe. On occasion the walk can finish in the dark, so a head torch is needed.
You are welcome to attend any of the walks below, but please contact us if you have any doubts regarding your fitness or experience.
